What are HMDs (heat management devices)?
Heat management devices, or HMDs, are an alternative to foil that is placed on top of the hookah bowl. It is usually made out of aluminum or stainless steel. They also add a stylish element to your personal hookah!
Why purchase a HMD?
HMDs are more practical than foil and offer a streamlined, ease of use experience. The hookah timing is reduced and the charcoal is used more rationally with an even burn. There is also an improvement in coal maintenance during the session.

HMDs vs Foil
1) Preparation- Foil takes more time and finesse to set the coals, however, HMDs allow you to set it and save time consistently!
2) Coal Maintenance- This is one of the primary benefits of an HMD as maintenance is minimal. It will be necessary to turn the coals only a few times per session. The HMD also ensures that the coals are heated evenly on all sides for a longer life span.
3) Clean up- With an HMD, clean up can take a bit longer as you have to wait for the device to cool down. You will also have to clean the excess material that is left on the device. With foil, you can just discard everything when done.
